Things to Do on the Farm
Farm Tour- Start with a tour of the farm and learn about each of the animals, how they came to live here, and how we have learned to maintain their health and happiness. We will tell you about the improvements we've made to the farm including some of the lessons we've learned along the way- we have one about springs- and give you a chance to get to know each of our special animals. The farm tour will include a tour of barn and pastures. Kids receive a Woofs and Hoofs Farm Activity Guide.
Horse Grooming- Are you interested in spending some one on one time with an equine friend? One of the best ways to develop a bond with a horse is through spending time with him, and grooming is a great way to spend that time. Our horses all enjoy being handled, and who doesn't feel good after a good grooming?
Horseback Riding- We have two horses that can be ridden by guests. Horseback riding is $50 per hour per horse and includes grooming and tack instruction. Guests ride in our large indoor arena. Kids under the age of 18 must bring a fitted riding or bicycle helmet to wear to ride. We do not provide lessons, but are able to guide new riders with the basics in a safe, fun environment on well
Play with the goats- Our goats are very friendly and love human companionship. Spend time with them grooming, helping Amy trim hoofs, take a goat for a walk, or just play with them in the pen. They are sure to brighten your day.
Work on the farm- We encourage visitors to really jump in and get dirty during their visit. In order to get the full farmstay experience, join us for morning, afternoon, or evening chores. Feeding the animals, taking the animals to pasture, filling water tanks, mucking stalls, stacking hay bales, and sweeping the barn are some of the daily chores that we would love to share with you... and we won't charge you additional for the experience!
Sketch Books and Pencils- Feel free to grab one of our sketch books and pencil sets and find a quiet place to sketch from nature. Perhaps you would like to sketch the horses as they graze? Or walk through the woods to the North to see what interesting shapes or patterns can be found.
Private Inground Pool- Overnight guests are welcome to enjoy our private inground pool. It is large and excellent for doing morning laps, or evening lounging with a refreshing beverage. The pool Fridge is kept stocked with lemonade and bottled water for your enjoyment.
Goat Happy Hour- Overnight guests may wish to join us in the evening for Goat Happy Hour. During this time we let the goats out of their pen so they can join us on the patio and explore the yard. Goat Happy Hour is never boring. It is BYOB, and we recommend that you wear clothing that you don't mind being chewed. Our goats are very "mouthy". They don't bite, but they want to chew everything! Day guests can arrange a Goat Happy Hour by contacting Amy in advance to schedule and discuss pricing.
